Sonia Kandall has been composing for 14 years, since she was 10 years old. She has a degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in Music Composition, and has won the Bearman Arts Entrepreneur Fellowship, as well as an undergraduate research award for her compositions.

Her works have been premiered by ensembles such as Balance Campaign, Strata Trio, and the Thalea String Quartet. She has a background in classical, as well as jazz, new music, and electronic music, and general music production experience across genres.

She has worked on student films, documentaries, animations, video games, having a wide range of experience and ability.
